The
Sega Girls School "Tunarudi Shuleni" Day Program students are recruited from two wards of Morogoro.
The process is as follows: Step 1 - Formation of Selection Committee including: Municipal Academic Officer from Morogoro; Municipal Officer
in Charge of Adult Education from Morogoro; Safina Women's Association Representative; Education Coordinator of SEGA; 1 Civil
Society representative Step 2 - Distribution
of Forms: SEGA meets with Village and Street leaders within selected wards and distributes forms to all Head
Teachers and Religious Leaders throughout the ward. Village and Street Leaders meet with their constituents to share information
about the program; girls currently enrolled in school also share applications with those who have dropped out. Interested
girls complete the forms and secure recommendations from elders in their community. Step 3 -
Initial Assessment: All the applications are assessed and shortlisted
based on the program criteria. Step 4: Testing and Home visits: A written exam is conducted
at each of the Ward offices, and follow-up home visits and interviews with each applicant and their guardian are conducted.
Step 5: Final selection and
verification: Based on interviews and home visits whereby criteria of motivation and financial disadvantage are
established, the Selection Committee presents a final selection of students for the program.
