In September 2009, the Sega Girls School students begain 'permaculture' or biointesive agriculture on school land.  With funds from the U.S. Embassy in Dar es Salaam, and the Kennett Quaker Meeting in Kennett Square, PA, students received a hands-on training from local consultants and have now begun to grow their own vegetables.

The Sega Girls School students visited Mikumi National Park in July 2009, with support from the Kennett Friends Meeting in the USA.  The trip was a great success, with sightings of lions, elephants, buck, hippo, crocodile, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, and snakes!  Thank you Kennett Friends Meeting!
