Nurturing Minds
Nurturing Minds in Africa provides financial and technical support to programs improving
access to quality education for girls in Tanzania, with a particular emphasis on girls who are poor, marginalized, and at-risk
of becoming involved in exploitative forms of child labor.
Nurturing Minds is currently supporting Secondary Education
for Girls' Advancement (SEGA), to develop a girls' secondary boarding school in Morogoro, Tanzania. SEGA is made up
of a core group of four Tanzanian citizens and one American who are committed to improving the lives of Tanzanian girls.
The Sega Girls School provides quality academic education to marginalized girls, emphasizing
leadership skills, social responsibility, self-sustainability and environmental care.

"Women perform 66 percent of the world's work and produce 50 per- cent of the food,
yet earn only 10 percent of the income and own 1 percent of the property. Whether the issue is improving educa- tion in the developing world, or fighting global climate change, or addressing nearly any other challenge
we face, empowering women is a critical part of the equation...."
-- Former President
Bill Clinton, commenting on the annnual Clinton Global Initiative meeting's special programming
focus on empowering women and girls (Clinton Global Initiative Press Release,
